Treating People, Not Disorders
Here at Nourishing the Soul, we believe that human beings are made up of many wonderful parts and are not simply our medical diagnosis(es). We look at all aspects of your life in order to help heal your relationship with food and movement.
Our Nutrition Philosophy
We believe that food is a personal journey and it is our honor to bare witness to some of the most intimate times in peoples lives. Our philosophy follows along the lines of Health At Every Size, or HAES, as well as the All Foods Fit model. We believe that you cannot determine someones health based on their size and that there is a lot about genetics we don’t understand. You’ll hear a classic phrase said often: “I won’t tell you to not eat something unless it has expired, is moldy, you’re allergic, or it is necessary for your medical diagnosis”. We strongly believe that you can not only eat but truly enjoy all types of foods that make up a well-rounded diet.
What We Treat
Eating Disorders
Our team has extensive experience treating a varitey of eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, otherwise specified feeding and eating disorders (OSFED), orthorexia, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)
Digestive Tract Disorders
Digestive disorders are common, especially as secondary disorders to eating disorders. Our team has had experience working with clients with IBS, IBD, GERD, gastroparesis, cirrhosis, and NAFLD
Sports Nutrition
Our team has experience working with athletes and people who participate in joyful movement with and without eating disorders. Training for sports, regardless of what that may look like for you, is more than a single training session. To prevent injury and increase performance, proper pre-, during, and post-training nutrition is vital along with proper stretching and rest days.
Don’t see what you’re looking for?
There are so many reasons to see a dietitian and we always encourage clients to find the right fit. We welcome questions about specific disorders and if we are able to comfortably treat them. If we find it is not a good fit on our part, we have a recommendations list filled with great providers to suit your needs!
